The 3835 Class where to progenitor of the LMS 4F. 197 of the Class where produced by and for the Midland Railway Between 1911 and 1922. The design would adapted to form the LMS 4F. The main visual differences between a Midland 3835 and LMS 4Fs is that the 3835 were right hand drive and fitted with a blower on the right side of boiler. While the LMS 4F moved the drivers controls and blower to the left hand side of the loco.
