History: 1802 / 8802 / 62593 was built in 1910 at Stratford Works by the Great Eastern railway. She was from the penultimate batch of S46 produced by the GER. She was allocated work on GER mainline from Norwich to London Liverpool Street, until replaced on most duty’s by the larger S69’s (B12). At Grouping in 1923 she was allocated to Stratford & Norwich where she was based for most of her LNER Career. She was classified a D15 by the LNER and carried the Number 8802. In 1928 when she was fitted with a Superheated “Diagram 27” boiler while retaining a Belpare firebox. She was then Classified a D15/2. She retained this layout until 1933 when she was fitted with a “Gresley” Round Top Diagram 28A boiler. The new boiler saw the class change again to a 16/3. This model depicts the loco as she was between her 1933 rebuild and WW2. In 1942 her number was changed to 7672 however this wasn’t applied to the loco. In 1946 her number was again changed to 2593. Between 1946 and 1947 she bacame a bit of nomad, was also allocated to Great Yarmouth Southtown Depot, Yarmouth Beach on the former M&GN and Lowestoft, as well as two short stints at Norwich Thorpe. In 1948 after nationalisation she became 62593 and was officially allocated to Norwich Thorpe depot (32A) where she remained until 1957 when she was withdrawn and scrapped.
