Designed by Hunslet, the Hunslet Austerity as they are known, where built the war department and industry these locos where produced in huge numbers, up to the late 1960s. Locos during the war years build by many different manufacturers. In 1946 The LNER would purchase 75 off the type from the war department. They where used mostly as shunting locos. Though most famously BR would use them to great effect on the Cromford and Highpeak Railway. No.68074 was built by Andrew Barkley in 1945 and withdrawn in 1962.
