As new model. Runs very nicely. A very interesting livery, brilliant if you’re doing a WW1 theme layout or preserved theme. The Oxford 2301 is a huge step up in quality compared to the old Airfix / Hornby model.
2308 was a loco that lived an interesting and well traveled life. Built as part of first batch of 2301s in 1883 she ran on the GWR until 1917 when she was one of 62 of the class requisitioned by the Railway Operating Devision to work in worn torn France. However she only remained in France until early 1918 when she moved to Modern Day Greece to aid the war effort against the Ottoman Empire. She would be transferred to her former enemy after the end of war and be renumbered to No.110 of the Ottoman Railway. She was struck off the GWRs Books in 1924 after the collapse of the Ottoman Railway. However the loco did pass to the Hellenic Railway and continued in service until the 1950s! Sadly she wasn’t preserved.
