A nice white metal kit built model. The Model appears to use a Tri-ang chassis. The model runs well at all speed’s and have just serviced.
Great Central Railway No. 222 was built for the GCR by Bayer Peacock in 1904 for medium and light freight duty’s. The name ‘Pom Pom’ comes from the locos exhaust beat which was short and sharp. It was reputed to sound like the Pom Pom machine guns. In 1923 at the ground 222 was renumbered to 5222, but remained working mostly on the Northern Sections of GCR into mid 1930s. In 1928 she was fitted with a superheated boiler. In 1935 she was reclassified as J11/4.
In 1936 the Midland & Great Northern Railway Joint Railway in East Anglia came under the full control of the LNER. The LNER Inherited a a fleet of Non standard Midland Railway types, all dating back to turn of century. The LNER Rapidly moved to withdraw many M&GN locos as quickly as possible. Six of the class would be moved to the M&GN network to cover mixed traffic duty’s during the 1936 summer season. Four of class returned to there former GCR territory shortly after. But 5222 & 5232 would remain on the M&GN into 1942 and 1943 respectively. In an unusual move caused by a lack of parts 5222 was return to a saturated boiler March of 1939 and reclassified to J11/1. In November of 1942 she left the former M&GN and was reboilered to a superheated type, returning to be a J11/4. She would return to the former GCR System and ran with British Railways ownership carrying the number 64343 until she was withdrawn and scrapped in November 1958.
The Model depicts the loco during 1939 to 1942 stay on the Former M&GNJR with the Saturated boiler.
